Beckeys a restaurant for friends and families alike, has been at this location in the Village of Blissfield Michigan just minutes from either Adrian Michigan or Toledo Ohio since 1997, serving up the best homemade style fresh foods from the beginning. Started by Myself (Randy) and my wife (LeeAnn Beckey) and joined by our children as they have grown over the years, our aim is to keep Beckeys Kountry Kitchen as family orientated as possible, serving the same type of foods we all grew up with. Food Our food is as homemade as it can get, such as our jams that we make from scratch everyday in our kitchen then serve it up with your breakfast, or our sweet breads that we bake every morning to serve with our dinners every day. (Because of their popularity we now sell our Jams and Breads separate also). The Biggest draw to our restaurant is our fresh fried Chicken dinners made from our own family recipe breading and fried up fresh to order, just ask anyone within a 50 mile radius of Blissfield where the best fried chicken is and chances are they will send you our way. Jams and Jellies The Beckey Family has been preserving jams and jellies from scratch for close to a 100 years now, Great Grandma Beckey a farmers wife in Blissfield seemed to be always preserving some thing every time we went to visit her. We are still carrying on her traditions at our restaurant cooking up our Jams one small batch at a time. Sweet Breads from Scratch Banana Bread, Blueberry Zucchini, Apple , Peach, Pumpkin,and Carrot are some of the breads we bake up every morning at our restaurant. People come from miles around Blissfield just to pick up a few loaves of bread and a jar of jam to take home. Fresh Made Pies We make our pies from Scratch just like Grandma did so many years ago. Our hand rolled crust is flakey and tender and our filling is made from scratch also made with the freshest fruits we can find then combined with our own savory spices. Easily our favorite restaurant in Lenawee County, Michigan, maybe even in the entire state. With picnic tables to sit in, mason jars to drink from, and fresh baked breads to get your meal started, everything about Beckey's feel like country. It served as the inspiration for Kehoe's Kountry Kitchen in Barry Graham's novel, Nothing or Next to Nothing.
We've eaten just about everything on this menu full of traditional Midwest American fare. The fried chicken is killer, juicy meat, crispy skin. Black Mountain meatloaf. House steak. Country fried steak. Chicken and biscuits. Fish. The only thing we weren't crazy for was the roast beef.
Sides and appetizers never disappoint. Mashed potatoes with your choice of gravy. Fried okra. Mac and cheese. Green beans with bacon. Peppered cheese balls. Everything spot on and delicious.
The most amazing thing, for us, was the quality of the food, combined with the generous portion sizes, and better than expected prices. Nothing was overpriced, even the monster sized burgers. Home made soups and fresh baked breads were included with the meal. Damn good soups and breads too. Maybe our favorite part of the meal. Apple cinnamon, zucchini, pumpkin, etc. Full flavor. Served hot. Soups vary by day and they all taste pretty great.
Service is great. Cozy, country atmosphere. Refills and waitresses show up when they should. People know each other. It's that kind of place. Waitresses and customers are all friendly and beautiful.
I know this place sounds too good to be true. Like a hometown throwdown country classic utopia that none of us deserve. And maybe that's exactly what it is. Stop at Beckey's Kountry Kitchen in Blissfield, Michigan and find out for yourself that we aren't full of shit.
